Introducing Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian author whose works include novels, short stories and works of non-fiction. She was born on September 15, 1977 in Enugu, Nigeria. She was the fifth of six children of her parents. In her early days, she was highly influenced by the fellow Nigerian author Chinua Achebe , more specifically by his work Things Fall Apart . In her works, she extensively deals with the Nigerian Civil War or the infamous Biafran War. Her novel Purple Hibiscus received the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 2005 for Best First Book (Africa) and that year’s Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best First Book (overall). It was also short-listed for the 2004 Orange Prize. She has also done a series of famous TED Talks including The Danger of a Single Story and We Should All Be Feminists.
